Saying something is gay does not imply homophobia. I don’t care much for gay people. But that is not because I am afraid of them; I just find them annoying in their mannerisms and such (especially gay men). I don’t treat them differently because of their gayness, but I do make gay jokes (as well as jokes about all sorts of other people) and use “that’s gay” on occasion; there is no malice behind it when I say it.
