Despite the firestorm of staggeringly retarded comments on every blog this has been posted on, this is a good trailer. A really good trailer.
First and foremost, you know exactly what kind of game it is. We are clearly looking at a Gears clone, and an unapologetic one. You run to cover, pop up, shoot, pop down, and move to cover elsewhere, except now with the added bonus of RPGs whizzing by your head. Cool.
Arguably more important though is that for once in a hip hop-focused game, it takes the style far enough over the top to actually make it entertaining. If mainstream rap is about hyperbole, this is hyperbole taken to the nth degree. If the rap video version of thug life were transplanted to the middle east, this would be it.
Watching this trailer will put you into one of two camps. You will either, like me, go, “heck yes I am playing this,” or you will go, “ugh, black culture.” Make sure you are on the right side.
